CROCODILE CAMPAIGN
In 2022, the Bloomfield incident occurred when a man named Alister McPhee ignored the official crocodile warning sign and entered the water, and was attacked by a large crocodile. The man survived, but the attack resulted in the death of his canine companion and several crocodiles, culled by the authorities.
The incorrect handling of the situation and the failure to apply charges to Mr McPhee by the authorities resulted in a campaign and eventually the birth of an organisation called C.R.O.C.
The fame that Mr McPhee received triggered a chain reaction of similar occurrences where people film themselves interfering with and abusing wildlife for social media likes and following.

THE ACTION WAS TAKEN
And so the action was taken. Dozens of complaint letters were sent to the Department of Environment, Science and Innovation (DESI) and to the ministers of the Environment, the Great Barrier Reef Science, Youth Affairs, and the Agricultural Industry Development and Fisheries and Rural Communities.
A great 'battle' then began to lobby the Queensland government to amend its laws on reckless use of crocodile habitat, correcting the miseducation by the departments addressed in public media, bringing wildlife offenders to justice and educating the public on how to be CROCWISE around the waters of northern Australia.

CROCODILE CULLING
Unfortunately, the Australian government promotes the culling of crocodiles and still practices culling after a human/crocodile conflict.
''We need to keep the waterways safe.'' is the usual argument by the Australian government; however, it has been proven by many research endeavours that culling actually disrupts the local ecosystem and creates something we call, ''crocodile wars'', a phenomenon where adult males fight for dominance. This, on the contrary to the government's claim, makes the waterways extra dangerous.
Another false, widely promoted claim is that 'crocodiles develop a taste for human flesh after an attack, hence the need for culling.'
